Vintage SHEAFFER Safeguard Clip Ballpoint Perpetual Calendar Pen!! This pen is in Excellent Used Condition--everything works well-it just needs a new ink cartridge. Pen has a Red and Chrome shaft/body and is advertising for ITT Lamps. It reads, "right on: ITT lamps" This pen
is notable for its toggle-actuated "Safeguard" clip which was depressed to extend the ink refill. With the refill extended, the clip rests in a low position and cannot be put over a shirt pocket until disengaged, retracting the refill. Ink stains on clothing were a major concern back then and this innovative design helped to reduce the problem. This Safeguard has the not-so-common bonus calendar feature. With this perpetual calendar, you can make a small adjustment each month and have the correct calendar at your fingertips, literally! Simply unscrew the two halves of the pen shaft, rotate the calendar window so that the appropriate day and dates are lined up, then screw the pen shaft back together. Clever idea!
