    Description

    HP 6296A Lab Adjustable Power Supply 60V 3A, 180W Regulated. Condition is "Used", in good working order. There is electrical tape on the built-in AC power cord. The analog meter reads a bit high in the 0.4A range.
    This is one of HP's lab power supplies with an SCR pre-regulator for higher power output (the unit is convection cooled with no fan), with a linear post-regulator for lower noise/ripple. With this design, output capacitance is relatively high, and there is a slight hum (I think coming from the transformer) in certain voltage/current settings. According to the manual (section 3-14), the supply can be operated in excess of specifications up to 70V and 4A without damage (but no longer with any guarantee that it meets its other performance specifications, although "if the line voltage is maintained above 115 Vac, the supply will probably operate within its specifications" according to the manual).
